Set in over 40 acres of stunning Victorian parkland, The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate offers a secluded retreat for couples, families and groups alike.

There are 9 bedrooms contained in the 19th century Manor House, complete with four-poster beds, restored Victorian features and beautiful views over the parkland. A further 56 bedrooms are housed within Woodland Rooms, with private and spacious balconies, modern design throughout, all in quirky wooden structures.

I stayed in one of the Woodland Rooms, and was pleased with the contemporary and practical element to the space. On one wall was a beautiful orange and yellow wallpaper with birds of paradise which was complemented by dark wood furniture and green tones throughout, but one wall contrasted this totally with its petrol blue hue and artwork of splattered paint on canvas. It seemed a bit of a mismatch, but nevertheless, the room was comfortable and spacious.

Having opened in February 2010, the hotel feels modern and comfortable and it’s nice to see the traditional features of the 19th century Manor House have been restored. The different areas of the hotel link via the Manor House as the central point, and steps to the left of the hotel lead to The Clearing Spa, a converted 19th century stable that has been stylishly renovated.

The beautiful lounge area of the hotel features a traditional fireplace, modern sofas and sociable layout. The French doors open out onto perfectly-mown lawns and a patio area perfect for the warmer seasons. Everything is very well thought out, and the space is perfect for intimate weekends away or for large groups of friends and family.

The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate really is a great place to escape to and it offers a wealth of amenities including spa, fitness centre and infinity pool. Its beautiful grounds surround the rooms and you really do feel like you’ve escaped from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
