Sleepover... Hotel Review: The Rockwell - LondonThere are thousands of hotels in London so what might make you choose The Rockwell.... well, maybe the location in the heart of Kensington or the fact that it’s small and personal rather than huge and corporate or maybe the friendly, welcoming staff and the very comfortable rooms; whatever your reason for choosing The Rockwell you won’t be disappointed.

It would be quite easy to walk past The Rockwell; it looks just like any other townhouse on the Cromwell Road and even once you’ve walked through the front door you could be forgiven for thinking that you’d stepped into the entrance hall of a private home; it simply doesn’t look like a hotel. Reception is small and unobtrusive and with the comfy seating area it looks like it could be somebody’s living room. However check in was cheerful, quick and efficient and we were shown up to our deluxe room within minutes of our arrival.

Sleepover... Hotel Review: The Rockwell - LondonOur third floor room overlooked the busy street but with very effective double glazing we weren’t disturbed at all by the traffic down belowand as there is fresh air ventilation throughout the hotel as well as air conditioning I didn’t feel the need to have the window open as I normally do. All 40 rooms in the hotel are furnished in a contemporary style with large comfy beds, flat screen TV’s and a mini bar but sadly no tea and coffee making facilities, oh well you can’t have everything I suppose. Very importantly for me, who has to have internet access every minute of the day, free wifi is available in all the rooms.

The bathroom was a little on the small side with only a shower and no bath which was a tad disappointing but having said that The White Company toiletries and big fluffy bathrobes went a long way towards making up for the lack of a tub, after all we were only there for one night, I would survive!

Although we didn’t eat in the hotel restaurant I did sneak a peek at the menu which appeared to be very reasonably priced with some appetising dishes available. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes within a couple of minute’s walk of the hotel.

Breakfast is served in the dining room overlooking the garden; choose either a continental breakfast (£9.50) or a full English breakfast (£12.50).

A deluxe double room at The Rockwell is £180 or you could splash out an extra £20 for one of the mezzanine suites and make that weekend away in the capital a memorable occasion.
