Breakfast Like A King
You’ll be in RudeHealth with 7Grain Granola

By Kerry Teakle

As a teen and in my twenties, it was all too easy to rush out the door without breakfast, only to reach for a coffee and a chocolate bar by elevenses.   However as I’ve become older and wiser and dare I say it more health conscious, I’ve come to believe the mantra, ‘breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper.’

Apples and Cinnamon News... Taste Test: Breakfast Like A King - You’ll be in RudeHealth with 7Grain Granola

The supermarket shelves are full of an array of cereals but many of them I find sickly sweet.   So I’m always on the look out for new delicious cereals that aren’t ladened with simple sugars but instead are made up of complex carbohydrates that will sustain me until lunch, yet are still tasty.

So coming across Rude Health’s range of granola in Sainsbury’s has been a great find.   Packaged in retro packaging, which has a somewhat 1950’s look, the boxes are made from 100% recycled materials and are 100% recyclable.

So far I’ve tried the Apples and Cinnamon and the Honey Nut Granola, both of which are delicious and not overly sweet.   Both contain 7 wholegrains; wheat, rice, barley, spelt, rye, oats and buckwheat, meaning they’re high in fibre, and use unrefined naturally sweet things like honey and the raw juice of sugar canes.  And they certainly kept me full until lunch.   And if I’m feeling peckish, I’ve been known to have a couple of handfuls as a snack.  I’ve even used it as an instant crumble topping over some frozen fruit, sweetened with agave syrup to make a relatively healthy dessert.
