Last year, The Co-operative won the Chilled Convenience Pizza Store Retailer and Frozen Convenience Pizza Store Retailer of the Year accolades at the annual Pizza, Pasta and Italian Food Association (PAPA) Awards.

This year, they are launching two Limited edition Pizza, the truly Irrestible Pastrami Pizza and Italian Chilli Beef Pizza.

The Limited edition premium Truly Irresistible Pastrami Pizza is made with a hand-stretched stonebaked pizza base with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and mascarpone topped with a generous amount of gherkins and the finest Scottish peppered Pastrami and mustard. Which all fuse together to make one unique pizza that lives up to its name.

The pizza comes with a small sachet of mustard and horseradish sauce that gives it that extra kick leaving a fiery warm aftertaste which makes it one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted.

The Italian Chilli Beef Pizza has a stonebaked base topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, chilli beef, red and yellow peppers. The red and yellow peppers add a delicate flavour while the chilli Beef gives it a very subtle kick. It is perfect for those that are not lovers of spicy food.

This pizza was a little disappointing and reminded me more of an American dish than an Italian. It was a little bland and didn’t have that extra spicy kick from the Chilli Beef that I expected.

But on a more positive note the pizza base was soft, fresh and crispy on the outside.

At the same time, there will also be some other fantastic new additions to The Co-operative’s frozen pizza range including an Italian Stonebaked Sweet Chilli Chicken Pizza, whilst the Deep Pan BBQ Chicken Pizza will be given a new recipe.

Both Pizzas are perfect for spring barbeques with friends.
