Sweet treats for breakfast time
Written by Bronagh Woods

As the milk in my bowl slowly turned “chocolaty” I was transported back to the late-80s, a time when my cereal of choice had little to no nutritional value and was accompanied by a significant short-term sugar rush. The chocomilk, however, is where the comparison with mass-produced cereals ends. Launched during Fairtrade Fortnight, this deliciously luxurious granola is handmade from baked oats, barley flakes, sunflower seeds and a hint of coconut and is studded with sizable chunks of Fairtrade 70% cocoa dark chocolate. A second version drops the coconut in favour of plenty of creamy macadamia nuts.

There’s no escaping the fact that, for some people, the idea of chocolate first thing in the morning will never work, but this granola isn’t just a breakfast thing. It’s just as tasty sprinkled over ice cream or yogurt as a desert. In fact, this is where the only problem I can find with the product lies: it certainly isn’t something you’d want to eat every day. from a purely nutritional point of view – even if you do slice a banana on top of it _ it’s not all that great. It’s also incredibly moreish, discipline and strict portion control is required!

But for a decadent weekend breakfast or once-in-a-while treat, they’re a great addition to Dorset Cereals rapidly expanding range and continue their commitment to beautifully packaged and environmentally friendly (all their distinctive cut-out boxes are made from 100% recycled fibre) handmade bars and cereals.
