News... Brighton & Hove Food and Drink FestivalThis year the Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival team will be holding the first ever spring harvest food festival fortnight from 11-21 March which promises a tasty line up of foodie events offering something for everyone. “Our September festival is hugely popular and attracted over 100,000 people last year, so we want to build on that and make the most of all the seasons throughout the year, as Brighton has so much to offer food lovers. You could eat a great meal in a different outlet every single day of the year and frankly not enough people know about it,” said Roger Marlowe, Festival Chair

CAMRA are set to get the party going with the Sussex Beer & Cider Festival at Hove Town Hall (11 – 13 March), where over 200 British ales and ciders will be on offer, including many local Sussex brews. Those who have worked up an appetite after all that ale can sate it at the big Sussex Market which opens on (13-14 March) in New Road, and which will feature the finest gourmet treats, all made by local producers.

News... Brighton & Hove Food and Drink FestivalThere will also be a few more unusual events such as the Whisky Festival, at the Hilton Brighton Metropole (20 March); the Chocolate Festival in New Road (20-21 March); and the Brighton Eco Veggie Fayre at Hove Town Hall (20 March). Other unusual dining experiences include Open House Dining, with local homes opening their doors to serve up great food to complete strangers and a local Sunday service from Brighton & Hove Buses will take Brightonians to good food pubs between Brighton and Eastbourne (the 13X departs from Brighton Station at five past the hour from 9am); and there is a huge programme of special events at top local restaurants.

As the festival kicks off, public voting will open for the first ‘Brighton & Hove Foodie Awards’, created by festival partner Natural PR, seeking the city’s best restaurant, best food pub, best café and best food shop. Local people and visitors to the city are encouraged to vote for their favourites at www.brightonfoodawards.com from 11 March until September, when the winners will receive their awards during the festival’s big foodie month of events.
