Not a bad funkin cocktail
Review by Jane O’Connor

News... Not a bad funkin cocktailWith plenty of summer still to be had there is always time to enjoy a refreshing cocktail like the funkin Bramble, a contemporary twist on the 80’s Gin classic.

Funkin have been providing purees to London bars for years and is the ‘must-have’ for any cocktail party. Bramble, its newest creation, should be no exception.

The puree comes in a small silver foil pouch and looks great. The instructions on the back ensure that even a novice cocktail maker will have no problem impressing guests with a super fast, delicious drink.

The funkin team recommends mixing the Bramble with Bombay Sapphire gin, but any gin would do. The back of the pouch says you can use any spirit but as someone who enjoys the odd glass of gin I played it safe and went for that.

I filled a glass with ice cubes. I added a 50ml serving of gin. I added the whole funkin pouch then I gave it a stir. It had quite a kick to it and tasted sweet and sharp at the same time. The wild blackberries and Sicilian lemons gave the puree its sharpness while the sugar brought some welcome sweetness. The dense and fruity puree complimented the gin without overpowering it and brought the drink alive. I certainly enjoyed it, but I personally think it is hard to beat a good old plain Gin and tonic or bitter lemon.

Funkin Bramble is 100% natural with no artificial additives and retails from 79p per pouch. You can buy it from most major supermarkets including Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Asda or you can order online at www.funkin.co.uk, where there is even a 60 second funkin tutorial.
