Smokin’ Hot Hampers!

Inverawe is not only a thirty-five year old family business, but Scotland’s Specialist Smokehouse. You’ll know this by the rather impressive royal crest emblazoned across their mail order packages as they arrive at your door. Their impressive website covers everything from individual products to baskets and hampers – which range in price from £16.95 to £175.00.

We sampled a ‘Willow Basket’ – from their brand new summer basket range - which is a snip at £38.50 plus £3.95 postage. This was great value - packed with 100g Smoked Salmon, 112g Sliced Smoked Argyll Ham, 150g Smoked Loch Etive Trout Pate, 200g Chicken Liver & Pistacho Pate, 190g Smoked Brie, 150g Maclean’s Cocktail Oatcakes and 150g Wild Cherry & Bramble Sauce.
And not only was it great value, but the food was delicious and of fantastically high quality too – this is a gift any gastronome would be thrilled to receive. The smoked salmon in particular was beautifully soft, fresh and lightly smoked to perfection and the chicken pate had whole, green pistachios nestled within like gems. Plus you get a gorgeous wicker basket or hamper to keep… that’s a pretty top present!
One thing to note is to make sure the person you’re buying for is a fan of smoked foods. They are strongly flavoured and often salty – so if you’re not a fan of those things then this will be a present wasted on you. But on the whole this is a simple, stunning present that any smoke loving foodie will absolutely love.
