The Village Bakery... Bringing You Simple Pleasures

The Village Bakery... Bringing You Simple PleasuresWhoever said a ‘little bit of what you fancy does you good’ must have had The Village Bakery in mind. Introducing their delicious snack range complete with distinctive new packaging design: Brownies, Date Slices, Apricot Slices and Butter Flapjacks… pure simple pleasures.

Everyone needs the occasional treat. And if your treats are only occasional, they need to be seriously good. The Village Bakery believes there is no point making cakes, biscuits and slices that simply aren’t delicious. But that doesn’t mean that they have to be packed with stabilisers, names you wouldn’t recognise or artificial ‘this and that.’

This is why at The Village Bakery they only use the best ingredients that they can find, always trying to combine simple pure ingredients with minimal processing, not that different from the baking you would do at home.

The Village Bakery’s stylish new packaging clearly displays all dietary requirements and nutritional content (without any confusing jargon!) – and is printed on recycled board making it 100% recyclable. Once again crafted and designed to bring to life The Village Bakery story and echo the ‘Good food…naturally’ message.

  • Apricot Slices (Wheat-free and suitable for vegetarians)
The Village Bakery’s Apricot slices have been a favourite pretty much since socks were first worn with sandals. So what’s their secret?... Well the ingredients speak for themselves.

The sticky apricot filling is sandwiched between layers of buttery oat crumble, the kind that just melts the moment you pop it into your mouth. Naturally Sweet with organic apricots and rice and barley malts (these are more complex carbohydrates than ordinary sugar, so they are digested more slowly and don’t result in rapid blood sugar fluctuations when eaten).

Unsalted organic butter now gives these slices and even better flavour. And in case it drips onto your clothes, the apricot filling is thickened with nothing more complicated than lemon juice and a little gum from the seed of the carob tree. It’s not that different from home baking, really.

  • Organic Brownies (Suitable for vegetarians)
These are no ordinary brownies, but luxurious slices of chocolate heaven made with Green and Black’s organic dark chocolate and crunchy walnuts.

For sweetness, there is unrefined organic sugar. For lightness, organic free-range eggs and a little baking soda. After taking your first bite the brownie seductively melts in the mouth, thanks to the fair bit of butter, which is added.

  • Date Slices (Wheat-free and suitable for vegetarians)
Date Slices were a Village Bakery tearoom favourite right from the start - a sticky date filling sandwiched between layers of buttery oat crumble. With just one bite the buttery oats just crumble into the mouth.

And last but not least the new addition to the family…

  • Organic Flapjacks (Wheat-free and suitable for vegetarians)

Deliciously rich and rewardingly buttery, sweetened with nothing but barley oat syrup so that every mouthful is full of flavour that comes purely from the organic ingredients - just oats, butter, sugar, malt and a pinch of salt!

Something this indulgent should be kept for special occasions, like a rainy afternoon, mother-in-law visiting, a tea break, picnic or when you’ve got your friends popping over for coffee and a gossip!… hang on a minute… do you really need an excuse when they are from the good people at The Village Bakery?
