Watch Cheese Mature Round The Clock At cheddarvision.tvThey say ‘good things come to those who wait’ – well West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers are so proud of the year it takes for their perfect-tasting cheddar to reach maturity that they have put a single cheese on a round-the-clock webcam for the whole world to see.

Launched on 1 January 2007, the public have been invited to log on to www.cheddarvision.tv and watch one of their handmade-on-the-farm West Country Farmhouse Cheddars maturing, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. So far an amazing 20,000 cheese lovers have tuned into the site.

The West Country Farmhouse Cheddar featured is one of just 14 UK products to carry the prestigious Protected Designation of Origin status, ranking it alongside world famous food and drink treasures such as Champagne, Parma Ham and Cognac.

At the site you are able to examine the delicate intricacies of the mould on the cheese as it develops… and you can download a bespoke screensaver snapshot of the cheese for your computer.

Philip Crawford, chairman of the West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers group, explains: “We’ve told the public how much we love our cows; you may have heard that we spend so much time with them they have started to moo with a West Country accent. We’re very proud of our cheese too and we’ve launched the new website to let the whole world appreciate just how long it takes to create the perfect-tasting West Country Farmhouse Cheddar.

“As you can see we really do take our cheesemaking seriously. We nurture our cows so they produce lovely milk which in turn creates exquisite cheese. Some might say this is the most boring website of 2007, but our cheese is worth waiting for so it’s better than watching paint dry… just.”

Viewers who find the prospect of waiting all year to try the cheese can visit www.farmhousecheesemakers.com and buy some of the groups West Country Farmhouse Cheddar to try immediately.
