Master Chocolatier Brings Best Chocolate In The World To Feastbourne

Master Chocolatier Brings Best Chocolate In The World To Feastbourne Eastbourne’s new food and drink festival, Feastbourne, is set for a more indulgent taste sensation on 22 October, as Master Chocolatier Alan Whatley presents a master class using the best chocolate in the world.

The festival which runs from 12 – 22 October and includes Cooden Cellars 3rd annual wine tasting, now includes chocolate tasting too, as Alan argues the case for single origin chocolate.  Like grape varietals producing different wines, Alan will be showing how cocoa beans from each area provide just as diverse tastes to chocolate, the highlight being Amedei - voted best in the world.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said “Feastbourne really does bring the best producers and industry experts together to provide both a lively and delicious tasting menu of events.  The chocolate masterclass I am sure will be a big hit and with so much chocolate to taste I wouldn’t eat a big meal beforehand!”

Chairman of the Association of Pastry Chefs, Alan’s experience spans many five star establishments including the Savoy Grill, and a true chocolate fanatic he avidly collects chocolate moulds ranging from the 1920’s.  During the evening Alan plans to cook up a treat for his audience making both a chocolate desert and handmade chocolates for tasting.

One of three master classes held at Eastbourne’s new University of Brighton Culinary Arts Studio, keen foodies can join sessions in intensely infused vinegars and oils courtesy of local company Stratta, or get Close to the Veg with Sussex based Bill Collison, holder of a prestigious Observer Food Monthly award.

Throughout the week Feastbourne fans can also look forward to a wide range of events including cocktail shaking, champagne, port and sherry tasting, toast the doyenne of modern British cooking at an Elizabeth David Tribute Dinner, go behind the scenes at the five star Grand Hotel, plus fishy events at the harbour or shop for local food at Produce on the Prom, complete with an evening of spectacular fireworks.

FeastbourneFeastbourne is sponsored by Cooden Cellars, University of Brighton, Glyndebourne, SCS Marketing, Grand Hotel, The Waterfront, Eastbourne Hospitality Association, Eastbourne & District Chamber of Commerce and The Sussex Wine Company and supported by Eastbourne Borough Council.
