The Inaugural Glynde Fine Food Festival
The inaugural Glynde Fine Food Festival will be held at Glynde Place on Saturday and Sunday, September 23-24. The weekend event is jointly organised by Glynde Place, Slow Food Brighton, The Butlers Wine Cellar and Say Cheese, Lewes.
We will be celebrating the best in both local and international food and drink, in a beautiful setting, with a programme of talks and demonstrations and interesting items to be tasted from all the participating stands. The demonstrations will include Montezuma’s Chocolates from Brighton exploring the delights of organic chocolate, plus Hattie Ellis discussing her book Sweetness and Light and the fantastic world of the honey bee.
It is through festivals like this that Slow Food – an international association that promotes food and wine culture whilst defending food and agricultural biodiversity worldwide – spreads the education of taste, and links producers of excellent foods with consumers. There will be plenty of information and opportunity to learn more about the Slow Food movement at the food festival.
Visitors are encouraged to stay for the day (or both days, from 10.30 am–5.00 pm) and enjoy the splendid gardens and park, while sampling the many products on offer, putting together a picnic, and buying good things to take home.
This is the first of what will become an annual event, which will grow gently and be based around quality not quantity. Stall holders have been carefully selected to provide a fantastic showcase of the delights that are available, mainly locally. This is an exciting event for the Sussex area, one that will only get better year on year.
