Life’s Too Sweet For Health Conscious Consumers

Life’s Too Sweet For Health Conscious ConsumersThe latest arrival in the £227 million functional food market is a fresh semi-skimmed cow’s milk with added probiotic. The milk with good bacteria takes the one shot morning drink concept and allows consumers to pour their daily dose of good bacteria straight over their cereal.

In product research many consumers identified that they often forget to have their probiotic drink in the morning, many also failed to realise that their daily dose of good bacteria was also giving them up to 18g of sugar per 100g, 80% more than cola.

The product has been launched in response to claims by Which?, formerly the Consumer’s Association, concerning the levels of sugar in probiotic drinks. Dancing Daisy is a cow’s milk with bacteria added and refutes the claims by some manufacturers that the bacteria are too acidic and need to be enhanced by sugar.

Mike Hind Marketing manager comments, “The launch of Dancing Daisy is to cater for those consumers who want to adopt a healthier lifestyle in the true sense of the word. We feel there is a place for both types of products. Not only does cow’s milk contain no added sugar but it is convenient to consume as well.”
