London Restaurant Plays Host To Top Indian Chef
The Tenth Restaurant at Kensington’s five star Royal Garden Hotel is hosting a series of Gourmet Chef Evenings over the coming months, beginning on 6 October, with one of the UK’s top exponents of Indian cuisine, Cyrus Todiwala MBE.
Todiwala, Executive Chef of Café Spice Namasté in East London, will be joining Head Chef Norman Farquharson and ten of his celebrated chefs in a radical departure from The Tenth’s modern European cuisine.
Norman Farquharson comments, “The idea behind the Gourmet Chef Evenings is to create a series of exclusive menus through combining the first class talents of my kitchen with some of the leading pioneers of world cuisine in the country. Having Cyrus to launch it is a fantastic opportunity for me personally and one which we are both relishing.”
Diners at The Tenth can enjoy a bespoke six course Indian tasting menu, whilst soaking up the panoramic views over Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park afforded by the restaurant’s unique rooftop location. The menu showcases the best of Cyrus’ Speciality Menus from his award-winning flagship restaurant, Café Spice Namaste. Drawing on Cyrus’ colourful Indian heritage, the menu includes traditional dishes such as Bhel Poori (Bombay’s popular street snack), and Goan Crab Samosa (samosa pastry filled with fresh flaked crab claw cooked in Goan red masala), as well as some Parsee-inspired dishes and Jardaloo Ma Gos No Palav (diced lamb simmered in a cassia bark infused gravy), with dishes carefully matched to a selection of recommended wines. The menu also features the incredibly complex masala dish ‘Xacutti’ – the very same dish cooked up by Cyrus for Sky One’s ‘Greatest Dishes In the World’ food programme, judged by leading food critics Charles Campion and Matthew Fort.
The evening will be co-hosted by Cyrus and Philip Ostenton, The Tenth’s highly acclaimed restaurant manager. Charismatic and experienced hosts, both will ensure a truly memorable evening for every guest.
A well-known television and radio personality in his own right, Cyrus has appeared on Masterchef, BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, Radio 4 and, most recently, Sky One’s ‘The Greatest Dishes in the World’. Author of both the phenomenally successful cookbook ‘Café Spice Namasté’ and his latest educational textbook ‘International Cuisine: India’, Cyrus is a real pioneer of Indian cuisine. This November sees him celebrating the tenth birthday of his flagship restaurant Cafe Spice Namaste and in this time Cyrus has provided the UK with authentic, haute Indian food, combining the best of British produce with truly exotic ingredients. Cyrus is winner of countless restaurant awards as well as receiving an Honorary Professorship and MBE for his extensive knowledge and contribution to the restaurant industry.
Fully inclusive tickets for the Cyrus Todiwala Gourmet Chef night are just £85.00 for the six-course tasting menu, including accompanying wines with each course. To make the most of the evening, the Royal Garden Hotel is offering Gourmet Chef Evening visitors the exclusive chance to stay in a superior room for only £100 (plus VAT and breakfast) , a saving of over 50%.
