A Damn Good Sausaging

A Damn Good Sausaging Now in its eighth year, British Sausage Week is taking place between 24th October and 30th October 2005 and it is set to be another sizzling session of sausage celebrations, with fans up and down the country paying homage to the great British Banger.

The humble British banger has seen a change in recent years becoming reinvented as a fashionable food, and this year Britain’s sausage lovers hit a new all time high in their dedication by driving sausage sales to nearly £500 million; making sure the British sausage is as comfortable on the top table of exclusive restaurants as it is your kitchen table at home.

British Sausage Week, organised by The British Sausage Appreciation Society, celebrates the taste and variety of the sausage with over 400 individually named varieties in Britain alone.

One of the highlights of the week will be The Banger & Mash Clash, a competition between regions to find the countrys best twist on the classic favourite bangers & mash recipe. Anyone can enter from local butchers, school cooks and chefs to Mums who cook up their own tasty Bangers and Mash – the only rule is you have to be fanatic about sausages! We will then travel up and down the country throughout British Sausage Week, judging the finalists in a cook off competition and presenting the winners with their coveted Banger Award.

To celebrate British Sausage Week, independent butchers across the country will be also be running events and creating mouthwatering new sausages for customers to sample. There will also be unmissable offers on sausages from supermarkets and butchers, whilst pubs and restaurants will be joining in the festivities by running dedicated sausage menus. For those of you that prefer to celebrate the Week at home, the British Sausage Appreciation Society will be rustling up some exclusive sausage recipes.

Charity events and promotions will also be taking place through out the Week in aid of Cystic Fibrosis.
