Three cheers for Jacob’s Creek for three specific reasons with these interesting additions to their range: first, they are 50cl bottles, about the right amount for a couple to finish with a meal and not fall asleep shortly thereafter; second, in a wine-world where alcohol levels seem to be rising inexorably they have made both at 12.5%; and third, they are pushing the blend boundaries a bit with this Three Vines concept.

Alright, you know roughly what you will get with the dependable Jacob’s Creek brand: fruit. But they go further with these, looking for and getting a bit more complexity. And a fourth cheer: nobody does food matches on their labels as well as the Aussies, making life easier for the buyer, something the French often still don’t get: largely seafoods and salads for the Semillon white; pastas and risottos with the Shiraz rosé.
