A Gourmet Gastravanganza In A Bottle For those that love fine quality beer and for those that simply love aromatic and sumptuously delicious things, raise a glass to new Jacobsen. With 140 years of brewing know how invested in every glass, Jacobsen Bramley Wit and Jacobsen Saaz Blonde are brewed according to Belgian wheat beer tradition but have a very different, very Scandinavian overlay courtesy of the expert brewers at Carlsberg.
Until now, Jacobsen has been a coveted secret among the Scandinavians but now these super premium beers have ventured from their shores so that each one - crafted using the highest quality, natural ingredients - can be enjoyed by everyone who enjoys the finer things in life. Presented in 75cl bottles, Jacobsen Bramley Wit and Jacobsen Saaz Blonde are perfect for sharing - with food or simply savoured on their own.
Both beers are named after Carlsberg’s Danish founder JC Jacobsen and are brewed in Denmark, in a special micro brewery at the Carlsberg brewery in Copenhagen. Gorgeously aromatic, Jacobsen Bramley Wit, is an unfiltered wheat beer with a refreshingly light, discreet bitterness and refreshing hint of apple. The natural juices of Bramley and Belle de Boskoop* apples and fresh orange peel lend a delicious acidity, enhanced further by gentle undertones of coriander and clove. When poured, Jacobsen Bramley Wit is white, slightly cloudy, with an attractive creamy head. It has a 4.6 per cent ABV. Jacobsen Saaz Blonde is brewed according to the Belgian tradition for a light top fermented beer - a “Blonde” - which indeed, has an attractive blonde head when poured. The distinguished Czech hop Saaz holds the character of pine needles and gives the beer a rounded, aristocratic flavour. Elegant aromatic notes of fruit, clove and coriander are enhanced by gentle traces of angelica root. The result is dry and smooth with a hint of caramel and a moderate bitter finish to this light, golden beer. Jacobsen Saaz Blonde has an ABV of 7.1 per cent.
Like a fine wine, the premium and distinctive flavours of the two beers make them ideal to complement and enjoy with food representing a great opportunity to experiment at home and when entertaining. Jacobsen Saaz Blonde works beautifully with roast meats such as chicken or lamb, while Jacobsen Bramley Wit lends itself to Thai or fish dishes. The two Jacobsen beers demonstrate Carlsberg’s strong heritage in brewing innovation and the tireless pursuit of the ultimate beer. In fact, it was JC Jacobsen who unlocked the secret that it is the absolute purity of yeast which results in the most perfect beer, spending 36 years refining the yeast purification process. This is now copied by brewers all over the world.
Fittingly, innovative Jacobsen Saaz Blonde and Jacobsen Bramley Wit were developed in the Jacobsen Brew house, the same buildings in which the old Carlsberg Brew house was originally located in Copenhagen.
Carlsberg Jacobsen Saaz Blonde and Bramley Wit are presented in 75cl bottles priced £3.49 and are available from all stockists of quality beer, including select Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s stores. Both beers will also soon be available from Geronimo Inns.
