Village Beer Festival Is Set To Be Anything But Pint-Sized

Village Beer Festival Is Set To Be Anything But Pint-SizedMichael Eavis might be taking a break this year but all is not lost. The weekend of 19-20 August sees the first Buckland Beer Festival, to be held at the showground in Buckland Dinham, situated on the A362 near Frome. The little village with big ideas will play host to more than a dozen breweries exhibiting some of the finest beers the region has to offer.

As well as a few pints visitors will be able to enjoy a packed programme of music from local jazz, blues and rock bands and sample some local delicacies at various food stalls. With the hot weather set to continue it’s sure to be a great weekend.

The festival is the brainchild of village publican Jeremy Westcott, who runs the award-winning Bell at Buckland Dinham with partner Lucy Davies-Coward.

As Jeremy explains: “Somerset and the South West has a well-earned reputation for producing some of the nation’s finest food and drink. The county is teeming with breweries producing wonderful beers and ciders. We serve some of these at the pub but thought it would be a nice idea to spread the word a little further afield. Our fellow villagers are lending a hand so its proved to be a real community effort and the demand for tickets has been amazing. I suspect this festival might be the first of many!”

Tickets for the festival, which runs from 12 noon to midnight each day, are available in advance only from the Bell at Buckland Dinham. Beer and cider afficionados should call 01373 462 956. Tickets are priced at £5 for over 18’s and include 2 bucks beer tokens, a souvenir glass and free entry in a raffle for a barrel of beer. Tickets for 10-17 year olds are just £2.50 and children under 10 go free.
