Mouton Cadet Release Their New Vintage
The latest vintages of Mouton Cadet have just hit the shelves. The Mouton Cadet 2003 red and 2004 white are the second release since the range was re-launched in 2004 as part of a ten year proposal to update the style and quality of the wine in terms of both packaging and blend.
Following consumer research in key markets, the programme of changes launched by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 2004 is designed to deliver more fruit driven and rounder wines to appeal to today’s consumer. The contemporary range is proving popular with wine drinkers – the Mouton Cadet brand saw 4% growth in 2004, compared to -12% overall for Bordeaux. The new vintages show the further developments that have been made in the past year- the red is more seductive and the white fresher.
The Mouton Cadet Red 2003 benefits from a higher parcel selection and redefinition of the production area. This leads to a fruitier wine, with more pronounced flavours. The nose offers blackberry aromas, with liquorice and raspberry liqueur adding complexity. The wine is very round and smooth in the mouth with a generous and expressive finish.
The Mouton Cadet White 2004 is much fresher than the previous vintage, showing a highly refined nose of white blossom and citrus. The wine is round and succulent on the palate bringing refinement and elegance coupled with lush Semillon notes.
Last year Mouton Cadet became Associate Wine Sponsor for London’s iconic actors’ theatre, the Old Vic. The ‘Encore! Mouton Cadet’ package, the first of its kind for the theatre, includes sponsorship, sampling, events and PR, and is a marketing initiative that brings the Mouton Cadet brand personality brought to life through theatre and ‘the drama of life’.
