Another Star For Artois?Another Star For Artois?

In an exciting move that will see the marrying of history with the modern day, the Artois Brewery in Leuven, Belgium is launching a new blonde beer into its Artois portfolio; Artois Bock, available in the UK this September in selected outlets.

Joining Stella Artois, the UK’s top selling premium lager, Artois Bock has been developed following the chance discovery of an old recipe, which was hidden in the archives of the Artois Brewery in Leuven.

The ingredients revealed a Bock beer, previously made by the Artois family in the late 1800’s and consumed by the scholars of Leuven University, the lively history of which is famously entangled with that of the Artois brewery.

Unusual in that it uses 100% malted barley roasted at high temperatures, Artois Bock has a full smoky caramel flavour and delivers a distinctly sweet taste after the bite of its initial bitterness. With an ABV of 6.2%, the beer will be served in half pint measures only and sold in a 275ml bottle to reflect the premium nature of the product and to encourage the consumer to savour, appreciate and grant the beer the thought it deserves.

Feedback so far on the taste of the beer has been extremely positive described by one beer expert* as “A soft landing on the palate with a touch of vanilla and the combination of firm bitterness and spice giving the perfect counterbalance to the sweetness of the malt and the alcohol. Very well integrated flavours with excellent balance”

A rare opportunity embraced, Artois Bock represents a product that the Artois family, past and present, can be truly proud of. Artois Bock is, after all, 100% historically and inherently true to the Artois brand heritage.
