Thirsty Work Matt Skinner
Mitchell Beazley
Wine is for everybody, and learning about it should never be intimidating. There are a dizzying array of wines out there in the world and it would be a shame to miss out on some of the most exciting wines on offer, just because you are afraid to try something new. In the world of wine, a new fresh voice has emerged with a big sense of humour and the unique ability to convey in simple and passionate terms how exhilirating wine can be.
In September we are proud to present Thirsty Work, the very first book from young wine guru Matt Skinner. Produced with the new generation of young, hip wine drinkers in mind, Thirsty Work is a vibrant and passionate celebration of wine and the stories that go into making it. Matt’s approach is serious but unpretentious, accessible and inspiring: his mission is to make the world of wine seem a much smaller place and arm the reader with a little more knowledge, confidence and enthusiasm about the wine in their glass.
Matt shows us that the world of wine is a living and breathing thing: 24 hours a day and 7 days a week – he brings us the profiles and faces of the people who together have created the wine that we drink and the places they work. Thirsty Work is a visual rollercoaster, taking us on an inspring journey around the world from the tables of the restaurant Fifteen, to the graduate winemakers in Stellenbosch South Africa, or from the valleys of Chile to the chateaux of Bordeaux.
Thirsty Work introduces the ultimate dream team of Matt Skinner and photographer Chris Terry who together have created a ground-breaking vision that shows that wine is not just about grapes and glasses.
As author Matt Skinner says, "Just like people, wine comes in all different shapes, sizes, colours and tastes. White wines, red wines, big wines, little wines, fat wines, skinny wines, cheap wines, expensive wines, good wines, great wines, mind-blowing wines and even the odd bad wine just to balance things out!"
